Please look through some of my frequently asked questions. If you have any question that is not listed, please contact me and I will be happy to answer them for you!

How Do I Book A Session?

Now that you want to book a session with Flaherty Photography, first thing is, I will need to collect some customer information from you. You will need to fill out the Session Contract Form. Please read through my studio policies then submit. Next, once I receive your form back, we will set a date and time for the type of session you need. Then, in order to officially schedule your session on the calendar, I will then need to collect the session fee. I will send you an invoice via email where you have the option to pay with a credit card online -OR- you can let me know you want to mail a check so I know it's coming. If you send a check, I will email you a retainer fee paid invoice for your records. The session fee will need to be paid within 5 days to avoid losing your spot.

Where Is My Session Held?

All indoor sessions are held at my Altoona studio. These include newborns, small children and pets. All outdoor mini sessions are held at Altoona area locations, and if you are booking an outdoor full session, we can discuss several locations before your session date to see what works best.

Are There Digital Files Included With My Fees?

Yes! All sessions with Flaherty Photography are all inclusive. This means you will receive a set number of digital files once your gallery is sent to you after your session. All files are received via digital download directly from your online gallery.  Flaherty Photography also offers a wide variety of prints and products that can be accessed in your gallery as well.  Your gallery will be live for 14 days, in which during this time you can download your images and place any orders as you wish.  Any orders placed can take 1-3 weeks depending on the products.  All orders will then be available for pick up at my studio or can be shipped to you for a small fee.

When Do I Schedule A Newborn Session?
The ideal time for a newborn session is within 1-3 weeks after birth.  This is the optimum time where baby is more sleepy and can be curled up in all those sweet poses you see in my portfolio.  Typically the older the newborn gets, the more awake they can be.  To ensure you get an appointment, it is best to schedule your session while still pregnant.  Shanna only schedules 2-3 due dates per week to ensure there is flexibility in her schedule for babies that come early or late.  Once baby is here, contact Shanna either via email or text to let her know and she will get a session date set up for you!  If your little one is already here, you can message Shanna to see if there is any availability on the schedule.

When Should I Schedule A Family Session?
Shanna suggests to schedule about 1-2 months in advance.  During the year, Flaherty Photography hold special mini sessions in other locations outside Altoona.  These will be announced on the FB page as to the location, the time frame and the cost.  Clients can then sign up for a time spot that will guarantee their session.

Do You Use Any Props In Your Sessions?
Not many props are used during the sessions.  I strive to keep your images clean and natural with minimal use of blankets, headband and such.  I always love to incorporate any family heirlooms or special items in an image or two.  Please ask before your session, so I can be sure to add them in.

Can I Bring My Other Children To My Newborn Session?
This is definitely a question that gets asked a lot.   Newborn sessions can be very long and requires a lot of patience from both myself and the people in the room.  I try to keep a quiet and calm environment, and this can be very frustrating for little siblings.  Only you know your children best, and can make that call with older children.  I always welcome siblings and parents in on a few shots too.  If you have little ones that you want to be photographed, just let me know, and we can schedule them either at the beginning or the end of the shoot.  If you want them at the beginning, it is best to have someone lined up to pick them up when they are done.  If you prefer they stay during the session, please bring a few items to keep them occupied.  I do have a big back yard too, and my clients are always welcome to walk around too to get some fresh air.

Can I Bring Extended Family To The Studio?
In efforts to keep the space quiet and calm, I ask that we keep it to 1-2 people total.  My studio has limited space for guests in the sitting area, which is ideal for mom and dad and/or a grandparent.

What Days Of The Week Do The Sessions Take Place On?
Newborn sessions are scheduled at 10am Monday/Tuesday/Thursday
Studio sessions are scheduled at 10am and 12pm Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday & time can vary on Saturdays
All outdoor sessions are scheduled  within 2 hours of sunset (March-November)

Please note:  In the season where we have more daylight for longer hours, I can schedule full sessions during the weekdays as well.  I have three children that are in several sports, many in which my my husband and I coach, so we can get very busy.  I do my best to make sure I can schedule families on the weekends, but please know that sometimes, it is not possible.  It is always best to schedule your full sessions in advance to ensure availability.
