Our main goal is to provide a custom, more personable experience for to the families attending the
schools that work with Flaherty Photography.
To maintain a top-notch level of service to our schools, we only accept a limited number per year. This allows the photographer to never be rushed to take your child's photos on picture day, as well as have the time to respond to any inquires you have and create high quality images for you to view.
We aim to engage with your child in front of the camera, allowing them to feel comfortable which results in genuine smiles, smirks or laughter.
WHAT SCHOOLS DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICE FOR?
At Flaherty Photography, we primarily work with private or independent schools that include preschools as well as K-12.
WHAT ARE FINE ART SCHOOL PORTRAITS?
I want you to think simple, timeless, and modern pictures. I use a gray backdrop that allows the focus to be on the adorable face of your child as well as provide a photo that never goes out of style. I aim to capture your child's personality by engaging in small talk with them, telling jokes, listening or singing to music and let them have fun and loosen up. I will never tell your child "Say cheese" to force a smile out of them, and what you will see is genuine grins and giggles.
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU PROVIDE?
I provide services similar to big box photography companies just with a more personal touch. Here are just a few things I offer to schools:
• Detailed communication instructions for schools to send out to families ahead of photo day.
• Detailed instructions for families outlining the ordering process and what is all offered in the online gallery.
• All the equipment needed to photograph everyone on photo day.
• Private online gallery for viewing images.
• 2-5 images per child will be shown in the gallery.
• Digital images of all staff will be provided to the school for yearbook, website, and advertising purposes.
• ID badges for school staff members.
• Additional items that can be provided to the school include: digitals, service stickers, class composites, & more.
• Many print options that include packages and a la carte items, magnets, metal prints, keychains, and class composites.
WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR DO YOU OFFER THESE PHOTO DAYS?
I work with each individual school to schedule school photo days any time during the academic year. Factoring in what classes are on certain days, as well as a make-up day if there are many kids that miss. Some schools with more than 50 children, typically opt for additional picture days to spread the classes out and be less stressful for everyone.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR FAMILIES?
The best part about this program is that you will get to view your child(s) pictures before you make any purchases. There are no minimums to buy, and purchasing is not required. Collections start at $25 and a la carte prints start at $10. You can order exactly what you need, and nothing that you don't. If your school opts to have orders mailed directly to families, additional shipping charges will apply.
DO YOU USE ANY OF MY CHILD'S IMAGES FOR ANY PROMOTIONAL USES?
I do my best to educate all future clients on the style of my work by showing an online portfolio, business social media posts and pages, advertisements and promotion and preparation materials. I do respect every customer's privacy, so I never use any child's photos without express written consent of a parent. Every parent will have the opportunity to fill out and sign the required online permission form that will be on your school's ordering page. We NEVER use anyone's name for confidentiality reasons, and if you do not complete this form, we will assume that we do not have your permission to use any of your child's photos.
WHAT IF MY SCHOOL DOESN'T OFFER THIS SERVICE AND I WANT THESE FOR JUST MY KIDS?
Although not all schools offer this style of school portraits, this is a style that many others love! You can book a private session that takes place in my home studio in Altoona. These are scheduled during school portrait months of November-March. Want to bypass the session fee?
